The name Materia – a reference to ‘materia medica’ – comes from Latin and can be translated as source or talent. This reflects our motivation to make the most of what nature provides us and to make the diverse natural compounds of the cannabis plant medically usable in an optimal way.

Materia Deutschland GmbH was founded in June 2018 in Hamburg. We specialize in the manufacturing, import, and distribution of high-quality medical cannabis products in accordance with EU-GMP quality standards.
The wholesale business is operated from the company’s headquarters in Hamburg. We also maintain another location in Oldenburg, which holds licenses for wholesale, import from outside the EU, and the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals.
